(The transcript has been edited/shortened to make it more easily and quickly read)
Welcome to the webinar. Tonight, we will talk about Long COVID, its association with erectile dysfunction, and how our procedures might help men suffering from ED because of COVID. We will also review the research backing up these ideas: both the occurrence of COVID with ED, the association, the incidence rate, and the logic behind the research backing up our P-Shot procedure as being of help. I’ll also talk about marketing these ideas to your patients in a way that should help your reputation, not make you look like a cheap car salesperson. And a little bit about how the flow of news can be incorporated into communications, sort of an extension of our ideas that we talked about last week regarding developing your own list and caring for those people and bringing things to them.
Long Covid & ED
Let’s start with this Long COVID review of the literature that came out in August of 2022. A nice article in Fortune written by a physician, and I think she does a great job of pulling together some of the research we’ve talked about here before. And so, this is a good one to show your patients. It’s written in layman’s terms with links to the research. I’ll show you what I think is the most helpful shortly for our purposes.
But first, let’s swap over to how physics applies to marketing your practice.
Thermodynamics Applied to Marketing
If you take a thermodynamic view of the universe, it actually applies to marketing. You cannot create energy. It’s there. All the mass is there. The energy’s there. Water runs downhill, not uphill. Those things apply to marketing. When people try to spend a lot of money to make themselves look big, that can work. But it’s basically trying to make energy happen by pouring out the energy you have. In other words, your dollars, which you earned by your sweat are being transmuted into attention.
An easier way, I call it “judo marketing,” and we’ll show you how to apply it with this news. The idea is that until recently, there was no weight class with judo because in theory, you can use the other person’s energy and weight against them (instead of using your own energy) by taking their energy and flowing with it.
You can also call it “Vampire Marketing” (a name which I trademarked) in that the vampires live off of another person’s blood, so rather than spending your own blood-earned money with your blood and sweat and tears, take the energy that’s out there and flow with it. So, for example, if there’s news about COVID, rather than sending out lots of expensive advertisements about your P-Shot, curate (or bring or redirect) to your own list of the energy that’s flowing—the news that’s flowing—and then bring up the fact that your P-Shot® may help.
You redirect to your purposes the energy that is already flowing
Demonstration of News Curation as a Way to Use Vampire Marketing™
To demonstrate, I will pick any news organization. I will randomly pick Fox News. And we’re not going to talk about politics, so don’t worry. What you’ll find, and I’m just going cold turkey without even looking first, what you’ll usually find is that one news organization is commenting about another news organization’s comments. So, the news is curating the news.
There you go. You have Fox Media talking about the New York Times. I have no idea what this is about. Republican wives versus authenticity and all that. Who cares? But the point is, Fox News is reporting on a news organization (reporters reporting on what reporters are saying!)
I’m sure if I go to New York Times, I’ll find where they’re reporting what Fox or the Wall Street Journal is reporting.
The point I’m making is that just like you have these services that will send you review articles or one-minute summaries of the top 10 business books that came out this month, that sort of thing… Listen to this very carefully…Your patients want you to do that for them regarding health, especially regarding the arena of health in which they consider you to be an expert. So, if it’s family practice and general medicine, that’s a big one, right?
But if you’re focusing on aesthetics and sexual medicine, easier to keep track of, but they expect you to tell them, or they should be expecting you to talk with them about whatever is important that they should be thinking about. So, they may read the news, but they will go to your newsletter, your email newsletter, that you send out at least every two weeks to see what you found, knowing that if they see that, they won’t be missing the latest cure, the latest fad, or the next pandemic.
So, I’ve given you a way to pay for your time tonight. You would almost surely get a new patient or two if you wrote an email that said the following: “Around 20% of the men who got COVID suffered from erectile dysfunction because of it, through destruction by COVID of the endothelium—causing damage to the architecture and blood flow of the corpus cavernosa. and our P-Shot® has been shown to restore and rebuild the architecture of the penis.”
Then, put a link to the article in Fortune magazine and to the references to how it all works (see the references at the end of this transcript).
And I would say it just like that. Do not dumb yourself down. Use doctor words, and they will respect you for being smart.
The Consent form for Bocox™
This is the membership side, and I put the consent form, the new consent form for Botox, which is a hundred units of Botox or the equivalent if you’re using a different neuromodulator into the corpus cavernosa.
And then, if you combine it with… This is wrong. There are two different ones. But if you combine it with the P-Shot®, we’re calling it the P-Shot 100™. So, if you click on the Botox, I’ve actually got that in there three times. So, if you click on the Botox thing, and then you click on that, you’ll download the consent form. You’ll see when you download it that what we did is because we’re putting Botox into the corpus cavernosa…
Well, Botox has its own consent form; super scary if you just read it without knowing that millions of people have cosmetic Botox every year and no one has ever died. If you read the thing, you’ll see that it sounds scary, but mostly it warns off people who might have myasthenia gravis and other… It’s a very small set of neurological diseases that you shouldn’t be getting Botox. So, if you click that and you download the Botox consent form, you’ll see the Botox consent form spliced into it.
You’ll also see, and we don’t hide the fact, we point it out, that we have spliced in the Viagra consent form, which is scary as all get out because we know Viagra can cause blindness and all sorts of problems.
So, I’m putting that in there because of the mechanism of action for Botox in the… That it’s an off-label use, which is also most of what we do with Botox cosmetic and Viagra. I mean, not Viagra, but the filler is almost 90% of what we do is off-label. So that’s the consent form for that.
And then, I also put the consent form for the P-Shot combined with Botox, which would be… It’s right there. And so, we just took the… You can download that and you’ll see that I’ve again combined the Botox consent form with the usual consent form for PRP into the penis. And if you had someone damaged by PRP, you would have a reportable case. There are no cases of infection, necrosis, granuloma, or neoplasia from PRP.
If you had someone die from a hundred units of Botox since the LD50 is around 150, 180 x 100-Unit bottles for a 180-pound man, bottles, not units. It’s around a hundred bottles of Botox for a hundred-pound woman, you would have a reportable case. You would have the only case in the medical literature.
So, these are very safe doses we’re doing, but when you’re dealing with sexual response, it could be correlated, and someone could say their erections are worse, and it just so happened they lost their job the day before, but it gets blamed on your P-Shot. So, you have to have obviously a consent form that’s robust, and that is now there. Okay, so I got off-topic, but I wanted to bring that up before I forgot.
More About Long COVID and ED
As you guys know, I’m a huge fan of Zotero. I don’t know would how much I would give to have had this tool, say when I was in college or something. Anyway, let’s start with this one, The New Onset of Erectile Dysfunction. This is the one that’s probably the most robust.
”Lipstick Effect” means you will not lack for sexual and cosmetic patients even in a recession
Oh, here’s another sideline I put up here just to remind me to mention this. It’s called the lipstick effect, and what it points out, the point of this article was actually that people were bumping into problems by having things done at home during COVID by home-care people that may not be properly licensed. But the reason I brought it up is that the sales and beauty and personal care categories actually can jump. And I’m bringing that up because we don’t just have COVID. Now, the news is talking about inflation and recession and such.
The biggest demonstration I saw of this effect was I live on the Gulf Coast, and I was here when the Gulf oil disaster happened, and there’s agriculture here. I’m in Southern Alabama, so we grow pecans, cotton, sweet potatoes, and corn. But if you get to the coast, where we have a beach here, a large part of our economy is based on tourism.
And tourism just stopped. Completely because the news was telling everyone our beaches were full of oil (and they were actually still gorgeous).
And a lot of people made a lot of money off of BP because they were handing out millions to people who claimed that their business was hurt by the oil disaster. And I was encouraged by one attorney to apply for that money, but I couldn’t do it within good conscious because, actually, my business grew faster than perhaps it’s ever grown percentage-wise before or since. And people who came to see me almost said the same script, that because times were hard, they wanted to be at their best appearance wise, so they could compete better in the workplace.
So, if you catch your staff using inflation or COVID or a recession as a reason that they’re not doing good business, correct them because that attitude is what will be the problem.
During the worst part of COVID, when people were locked down, literally locked down, we had some businesses go under and others in our group who grew tremendously that were in the same town just by understanding how to talk to their people and taking the approach that people won’t quit taking care of their beauty and their personal care because of hard times, oftentimes they pay more attention to it.
Let’s see if this is it. Okay, so this was a previous one. This is not the main one, but this is in your handout. Remember, those go away when I close down the webinar, so open them up now and download them, and you’ll have them. But this one is associating them with it, it’s a biomarker for other complications. And there’s been, I didn’t pull that paper, but there was an association with Peyronie’s disease, but mostly with the endothelium damage. And of course, that would go with other things like heart attack and stroke.
This is the one that looked at the most people. This is the strongest data, and this is the one that shows out of, look at that 232,000 men without COVID, 230,000 people with COVID. So, they give you the ratios and the average ages, and they control for other comorbidities, and they come up with a risk of somewhere around 20% increased risk in men who have had COVID versus not. So, that paper’s in your handouts. It’s actually the first one of the four that are there.
An Email to Send to Your Patients about COVID and ED
All right, so if I were writing an email to my patients, I would put a link to the Fortune article that I just showed you. I would put a link to this article or at least quote it because it’s linked to that Fortune article.
And then, here’s the part that’s not in the Fortune article, this one where excuse me, this is from 2010. This was the article that prompted me to actually come up with the P-Shot because even though they used the adipocyte-derived stem cells, they showed that the stem cells died, and when they harvested the penis from the rats, they showed an increase in endothelial cell growth and in dorsal nerve nitric oxide activity.
And what did we say that COVID did? Right? It damages the endothelium.
And this was the other one that gave me the idea that someone in urology from 2003, so seven years before I did the P-Shot, talked about neovascularization using vascular growth factors that had been demonstrated in animal models.
Then we had this one come out that we just talked about, showing endothelial cell growth and improved architecture in the corpus cavernosa.
If you want to see more recent stuff, you could just put your people onto this website.
And then, I think after this I’ll take whatever questions or comments you guys might have and call it a night. But if you just go to the Priapus Shot website, the one for our patients, not for the doctors, just priapusshot.com.
Remember I talk to our patients like they are doctors. They’re smart people, and they will read the research, and if they don’t know the name of something or what something means, they’ll just go to Wikipedia and figure it out.
I’m on the Priapus Shot website. And then, if you click on the research tab, this is a link you can send to your people, and you can see it goes… Here’s the double-line placebo control study. Here’s study after study showing that the PRP, in all the whole hypothesis of all these studies, is regenerating the tissue that the COVID virus is damaging. So, I go into some of the other things that can be accomplished with some of the supplements and the pump and such, but most of this page is articles regarding improved penile architecture, including correcting the endothelium where COVID attacks.
So, your three-pronged email would be, “Hey, if you have ED, and you had COVID, well here’s a article that talks about why that might be happening with links to articles about why it damages the penis.”
And then, you would put a link to one of those articles.
And then, the third part of your email to your patients would be, “But we have research backing up the idea that platelet-rich plasma might correct the very tissue that is damaged by COVID. And so, this is what we do, and reach out if you think it may help you.”
Now, I always, always, always… I’ll say this again because we just have to do this. Because we’re doing something that’s not paid for by insurance, I always offer people money back. I tell them that when they buy the procedure. I say, “If you don’t love it, I’m not going to keep your money. I’ll repeat it. I’ll do something else of equal value, or I’ll put the money back on your card, whatever you want me to do with no argument. If you just need to pay the light bill, I’ll put it back on your card.”
And then, so I go on the same page on the P-Shot website where we have the consent forms. I talk more about why I do that, why it’s the cheapest and best money you’ll ever spend. They lose access to me if they get their money back after I get them connected to another physician unless it’s a long-term patient and that was just a one-off.
But if it’s a new patient and I don’t help them, I find them another doctor, but I don’t keep their money. But anyway, I talk about that, and I have this quote receipt that I use for them to sign, and that’s where I have them sign where they received their money back, and they had no perceived benefit, but they also had no harm. Then we are finished with each other after I’ve connected them with another plan with another physician.
So, highly recommend that you download that if you haven’t already.
And I think with that, unless there are questions, I’m going to call it a night. Have a good night.
